billboard double page spread

The use of the title fits the targeted audience language as it is very professional and uses business terminology. This meets the targeted audience as billboard is a trade magazine and for people in the music industry so it includes alot about the business of music.

The use of the picture is very good as it refers to the text 'Fierce' as she looks very fierce this will . It doesn't have any qualities besides being the same person in my opinion this may effect how the reader feels about what they thought the article was going to be about. It says Women of the year in the top right hand corner and the front cover picture relates to this and she is portraid as being very sophisticated and the image for the article shows she is strong this is good as it shows what it says and the audience will like this for this reason.

Competitor: Billboard contents page

Analysis of contents page

Billboard is a trade music magazine that features news, current charts and artist information. The content of Billboard is aimed at someone who works in the music industry therefore the content of the magazine is about business of music, This is shown by the use of words on the contents page such as 'retail' this tells me it is aimed at music professionals.

The magazine seems to be non gender specific, focusing on articles that appeal to both sexes but from industry point of view this is shown by saying on the contents page for a article heading 'women in music'.

The colour scheme is quite natural and again non gender specific suggesting its and audience for business unlike other music magazines this links to my magazine as i want to produce a magazine to help potential artists understand the industry and find a way into it. The magazine will be a normal music magazine with slight business qualities.

One feature i really like on the contents page is the charts section it shows that
Billboard proves their title 'no1 on the charts' by including it straight away rather than making people flick through pages to find out what they need to know. Another great part of the contents page is all information is given clearly showing exactly what you need to know is good as it makes readers feel calmer as they can access the information they need to know in a simple way. These both influence my idea and i want to try to include or make my own in my magazine.

The use of pictures is good as they are numbered so when turning the first page to the contents, instead of trying to find something you saw on the front you can see it by the same picture and know exactly what page its on.

One part of Billboard i don't quite understand is the logo does not really go with the contents page as it includes four colours pink, yellow, blue and green which make you think its quite a fun magazine and it might be but the contents pages doesnt really relate to this and does not pop out as much.

A day in the life of my target audience

Mood Board For My Magazine

This is my mood board for Beat it shows the type of artists that will be featured in the magazine and all the aspects of it. There is a list of words that tells you exactly whats in the magazine. The mood board includes a range of colours to show Beat is a fun magazine it is also trying to show all the great things in music CDs, awards, gigs and of course the artists.

Pre-lim task: school magazine cover

This is my Pre-lim task. It is a magazine front cover for boys and girls in the sixth form it contains gossip, advice and news about the sixth form. For a first attempt i think the magazine cover came out quite good but i can improve alot. To improve the front cover i could enlarge the central dominant image and have it fill the screen i could also make it brighter as it looks quite dull and may not attract the target audience. The type face is all the same so by making it different in some areas it could improve the overall magazine cover.

Introduction to magazine

Hello,

My name is Katie I have named my magazine Beat. Beat will be based on pop music and the charts with a buisness side to help people wanting to get into the music industry. The target audience will be boys and girls mainly students but an age group of 15-25. The magazine will allow people who are passionate about music to find out the latest chart toppers and have an, incite to artists journeys and how they became who they are it will also feature the latest artist fashion trends. The frequency of the magazine will be bi-weekly. This style of magazine is a workable idea because alot of people passionate about music dont get to know how the artists became who they are with interviews from the real artists it gives potential artists a chance to become who they want to be. This is also good as many teenage girls and boys like certain looks that singers and bands have the magazine will give them that look but at a much cheeper price.
