Analysis of contents page
Billboard is a trade music magazine that features news, current charts and artist information. The content of Billboard is aimed at someone who works in the music industry therefore the content of the magazine is about business of music, This is shown by the use of words on the contents page such as 'retail' this tells me it is aimed at music professionals.
The magazine seems to be non gender specific, focusing on articles that appeal to both sexes but from industry point of view this is shown by saying on the contents page for a article heading 'women in music'.
The colour scheme is quite natural and again non gender specific suggesting its and audience for business unlike other music magazines this links to my magazine as i want to produce a magazine to help potential artists understand the industry and find a way into it. The magazine will be a normal music magazine with slight business qualities.
One feature i really like on the contents page is the charts section it shows that
Billboard proves their title 'no1 on the charts' by including it straight away rather than making people flick through pages to find out what they need to know. Another great part of the contents page is all information is given clearly showing exactly what you need to know is good as it makes readers feel calmer as they can access the information they need to know in a simple way. These both influence my idea and i want to try to include or make my own in my magazine.
The use of pictures is good as they are numbered so when turning the first page to the contents, instead of trying to find something you saw on the front you can see it by the same picture and know exactly what page its on.
One part of Billboard i don't quite understand is the logo does not really go with the contents page as it includes four colours pink, yellow, blue and green which make you think its quite a fun magazine and it might be but the contents pages doesnt really relate to this and does not pop out as much.
